Actor Joe Flaherty, famous for Freaks and Geeks and SCTV, passed away at 82. His death was announced by his costar Joel Murray, who lamented the loss of another idol. RIP Joe Flaherty, cause of death undisclosed. Flaherty was a writer and performer on SCTV, alongside Catherine O'Hara, Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, and Martin Short. He later appeared in movies like Back to the Future Part II and Happy Gilmore. 

In Happy Gilmore, Flaherty played Shooter McGavin`s accomplice who antagonizes Happy at the tee box. Flaherty joined the cast of NBC`s Freaks and Geeks in 1999, playing Harold Weir, the father of Sam Weir. Daley wrote about his late costar. My favorite days on set were when we had scenes together.
