Former 'RHOC' Star Lauri Peterson's Daughter Ashley Reveals Addiction Played a Role in Brother Joshua's Passing

Lauri Peterson's son, Joshua-Michael Waring, died from addiction, wrote sister Ashley Zarlin via Instagram on April 6. Peterson, 63, confirmed her son's death on Instagram, stating that Waring died on March 31 at 35 years old.

"He had immense talent, but addiction derailed him," Zarlin said, expressing sorrow for the missed chances to bond, laugh, dream, and have meaningful conversations that will now remain unrealized. "I think of the what-ifs and alternate paths he could have taken if the system had offered more than empty promises and closed doors. My mom's love and support for him will always be remembered in my heart. She supported him unwaveringly, believing he could conquer the demon. I desperately desire a different result. I wish I could have done more to help him find his way back to the light."

As I grieve, I cherish the memories of who he was before addiction took him. Waring is survived by his parents, Lauri and George Peterson, sisters Ashley and Sophie, and daughter Kennady. Amid his struggle with alcoholism, Lauri adopted Kennady in 2015.

After Waring's death, Zarlin mourns him and countless others failed by a system meant to help them. Their stories, including Joshua's, stress the need for change and a healthcare system that prioritizes compassion and support. Zarlin shared this on Instagram. "Our healthcare system fails and disappoints repeatedly. I hope for a world with more compassion and better support systems, so people can receive the help they desperately require."

Zarlin said, "Josh, I hope you've found peace and can finally rest without pain." I love you."
