King Charles III is set to bestow new royal appointments on Princess Kate Middleton and Prince William. Kate, 42, has been appointed as the Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour, marking a historic move for her. The Companion of Honour is a special award granted to those who have made a significant contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government over a long period of time.
William, 41, was appointed by his father to be Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, a position awarded to members of the military or civil service for exemplary service. The couple celebrated their son Prince Louis' birthday on April 23 with a photo of their youngest child, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 8.
Despite the news, both William and Kate are trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for their children amid Kate's cancer treatment. After weeks of speculation surrounding her health, Kate announced her diagnosis in March after an "incredibly tough couple of months." She is currently in the early stages of preventative chemotherapy.
Kate and her family wanted to keep some information private to give her children time to adjust to the news before the world began discussing it.
