Matt Lauer and Partner Shamin Abas Seen Hand in Hand at Don Lemon’s Wedding

Matt Lauer and girlfriend Shamin Abas attended Don Lemon's wedding in NYC on April 6. They were among 140 guests at the ceremony at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US ambassador to the UN, officiated the ceremony with notable guests including Ana Navarro-Cárdenas, Sunny Hostin, Tamron Hall, Luann de Lesseps, Clive Davis, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Alec and Hilaria Baldwin.

Lauer, 66, wore a navy suit jacket and a white-and-blue patterned shirt as he held hands with Abas. The businesswoman chose a striped dress with a matching cardigan and a shiny tan top. Lauer and Abas started dating in 2019, after his divorce from ex-wife Annette Roque, who he was married to for over 20 years. The couple split after Lauer's NBC termination in 2017 due to alleged sexual misconduct. He was fired following accusations of sexual assault by former NBC employee Brooke Nevils, although Lauer denied the claims. After the initial allegation, more women accused the former morning show host.

Lauer recently joined his former Today coworkers at a wedding in NYC on December 9. He attended the event with Abas, and Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and Al Roker were present. Former GMA3 journalists Amy Robach and T. J. Holmes, fired by ABC in 2022 due to their workplace romance, were spotted at the wedding. Guthrie, 52, has shown no interest in befriending Lauer. According to a source, she has consistently refused to listen to him, even now. Since the story broke, he believes Savannah quickly turned against him, a betrayal to Matt. Lauer has maintained a low profile after his scandal. However, a source told Us in July 2022 that he is eager for a comeback. Lauer is hopeful about a podcast deal as he knows his TV career is finished. His children, Jack, Romy, and Thijs, have been more accepting of his career plans.

Lemon and Malone's wedding on Saturday featured a unity candle lighting, speeches from family members, and an Irish blessing to honor Malone's family heritage. Later, they celebrated at the Polo Bar with dancing, dinner, and dessert. Lemon, 58, and Malone, 39, wore custom suits by Suit Supply — Lemon in green velvet, Malone in blue. The CNN anchor and his husband plan to honeymoon in southern Italy in June.
