New 'Bridget Jones' Film to Feature Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant in Leading Roles_1

Renée Zellweger Bridget Jones: Renée Zellweger will reprise her role as Bridget Jones in the fourth installment of the popular film franchise, "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy." The film is based on Helen Fielding's bestselling 2014 novel of the same name. 

Hugh Grant, known for his role as Daniel Cleaver in "Bridget Jones's Diary" (2001) and its sequel "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" (2004), will star alongside Zellweger in "Mad About the Boy." Despite being part of the film's plot, Grant did not appear in the third installment of the franchise, 'Bridget Jones's Baby' in 2016.

Emma Thompson also returned to the franchise as Dr. Rawlings co-wrote ‘‘Bridget Jones's Baby‘‘ and was nominated for an Oscar in 2002 for ‘‘Bridget Jones's Diary.‘‘ She later won in 2004 for ‘‘Cold Mountain‘‘ and in 2020 for ‘‘Judy. 

The first film introduced us to Jones, a news assistant who documents her experiences in love, career, and life. Fielding's novel ‘‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy‘‘ takes place 14 years after Jones gets together with Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth. 

"To Leslie" director Michael Morris will helm the new film, with Fielding as an executive producer and Miramax co-financing. ''Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy'' premieres internationally and on Peacock in the US on Feb 14, 2025.
