Prince Andrew Seen Horseback Riding While Netflix Film About His BBC Interview Debuts

Prince Andrew spotted riding a horse in Windsor, England, as Netflix's Scoop film premieres, focusing on his 2019 BBC Newsnight interview. He wore a navy turtleneck and matching slacks, paired with an olive utility jacket and black helmet. Andrew waved at onlookers while trotting. Andrew is in Scoop with Gillian Anderson, Rufus Sewell, and Keeley Hawes.

The movie centers around BBC journalists interviewing the prince about his sexual misconduct scandal. In 2019, Virginia Giuffre accused Andrew, King Charles III's brother, of misconduct. He denied the claims in a BBC interview. "I don't recall ever meeting this lady, not at all," Andrew stated in November 2019. "It simply didn't occur." During the scandal, Andrew stepped back from his royal duties and patronages, losing his "His Royal Highness" title.

Giuffre sued Andrew in August 2021, alleging he raped and sexually abused her at age 17. Andrew denied the claims and eventually settled the case privately. Andrew and the royal family have not addressed the production or release of Scoop. The show's stars handled the situation sensitively.

Sewell, 56, thoroughly researched the Duke of York before filming. "Andrew has a blokey quality like Windsor's clenched jaw, and he's more of a lad's lad compared to King Charles," Sewell told The Telegraph recently. The actor said, "He thinks he's a victim of being too honorable." But he fears the impact on others and believes he was framed.

"Scoop is a film adaptation of Sam McAlister's memoir Scoops, focusing on the BBC's most shocking interviews. McAlister, played by Billie Piper, was the producer for the Newsnight sit-down, hosted by Emily Maitlis, portrayed by Anderson."

“I hope viewers understand that journalism is amazing,” McAlister said at the premiere of Scoop. “Despite its negative reputation, when done right, it can result in iconic moments like a once-in-a-decade or century scoop.” It matters.
