Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece End Marriage After 13-Year

Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece End Marriage After 13-Year

Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece are divorcing after 13 years of marriage, their office announced on Friday, April 19. The statement read, "Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana have decided to dissolve their marriage after fourteen years of living together." They express the difficulty of this decision, their deep appreciation and respect for each other, and the love they have walked with all these years.

The pair, who have no children, will still live in Greece and aim to remain friends amid their new relationship status. "The future relationship will be built on respect and understanding, fostering deep and sincere friendship. Family will forever support them." Thank you for your respect and discretion. The announcement surprised some royal watchers.

Two months ago, Tatiana (43) and Nikolaos (54) appeared together at the thanksgiving service for King Constantine II of Greece. They arrived at St. with their arms linked. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle was chosen for the February 2024 service. Prince William planned to attend his godfather's ceremony, but had to cancel due to his wife Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis.

Tatiana, although royal, assured followers that locals warmly welcome her in her daily life. “My life here is simple," she told Vogue in 2016. "I work, shop, cook, walk my dog, and the Greeks have welcomed me just like anyone else." The word here is philoxenia, the love of strangers, and I've strongly felt it here.

Titles don't matter to Tatiana when it comes to finding love with a man raised around royalty. "I don't feel like a princess," she said after her wedding in August 2010 on the island of Spetses in Greece. "I don't feel I married a titled prince." Yes, he is my prince, but only that. It's a privilege and an honor to be part of the family.

"In light of the recent circumstances, we have decided to postpone the event until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will provide updates as soon as they become available."
