Madonna Faces Lawsuit for Alleged Unwanted Sexual Content Display at 'Celebration Tour' Concert

Madonna faces lawsuit over Celebration Tour for alleged unwanted sexual exposure during March 7 concert at the Kia Forum in L.A., as per court docs obtained by EW. Lipeles accused the pop icon, 65, and tour organizers of negligent misrepresentation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, breach of contract and false advertising. He claimed that the crowd had to wait over an hour for her to start the show, which was scheduled for 8:30 p.m. m. but started at 10 p. "lmm, Lipeles said."

Lipeles claimed the audience was exposed to unexpected explicit content, with topless women simulating sex acts on stage. He also accused Madonna of turning off the air conditioning, leading him to feel sick in the hot conditions. Additionally, he alleged that Madonna lip-synched parts of her performance despite promising a live show. "Forcing consumers to endure long waits in uncomfortable arenas and exposing them to unexpected pornography displays reflects Madonna's blatant disregard for her fans," the complaint stated, according to EW.

Media has contacted Madonna's team for a response. Lipeles' suit against the Grammy winner is similar to the complaint filed by concert attendees Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden in January. They attended a show that was advertised to begin at 8:30 p. m. However, they didn't spot the singer on stage until around 10:45 p. m. and 11:00 p. could be shortened to m. and 11 p. The 2 men accused Madonna, Live Nation, and the venue of "unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices" at 8:30 p.m. m. start time. They also griped about the late show ending at 1 a.m. This led to issues with limited transportation options and increased transportation costs.

Live Nation and Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary, responded to the lawsuit stating that the shows in North America at Barclays in Brooklyn went on as scheduled, except for a technical issue on Dec. 13 during soundcheck, causing a well-documented delay in press reports. Madonna has faced lawsuits like this before and we will vigorously defend this case.

During her 2019 Madame X Tour, Madonna faced multiple lawsuits for late concert starts. The Celebration Tour, originally set for July 2023, was delayed due to Madonna's hospitalization a month earlier due to a bacterial infection. The tour started in London on October 14, 2023, and ended on April 26 in Mexico City.
